Where We Have BeenEarlier in 2004, God began to speak with Tomi regarding going to Africa.
On January 17,2005, Tomi left Austin, Texas and relocated to Uganda, Africa. Using her knowledge and her Virtues Program, Tomi has
been teaching others how to minister to children as well as conducting programs in schools, churches, villages and the Kinsenyi Ghetto.
Tomi then began working with former street youth to teach and train the ghetto children. Using the Character Virtues as a base, Tomi has helped
to provide education, food, medical assistance and music to affect change in these children's lives. She's ministered in the North where civil war hass been ongoing for 20 years.
Ministering in night Shelters, IDP (Internally
Displaced Persons) Camps and Hospitals, Tomi has preached a hope for the future to a starving and hurting nation.
Where We Are NowCurrently, K.I.K has established a weekly character training
program in the Banda Ghetto. Four to sixhundred plus kids are fed weekly. Lessons involving
twenty specific character virtues (honor, excellence, kindness, truthfulness, obedience, sincerity, gratefulness,
forgiveness, generosity, justice, mercy, goodness, strength, courage, worth, temperance, fortitude,
orderliness, attentiveness, chastity) are being taught. Atotal of nine orphans between the ages of 7 months- 11
years have been taken in, either off the streets, out of anabusive circumstance, or out of the ghetto, and
currently reside in Tomi's home in Uganda. One of the children has even been cured of HIV. They are
each receiving the kind of love they never knew existed. There is also an amazing foundational core staff that is
being trained to implement everything K.I.K stands for.
Where We Are Going
Plans are underway to build a Place of Refuge Village to facilitate in taking in more orphans, as well as an expansion of the current ghetto program. Place of
Refuge Village will be established to relocate the families out of the IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) Camps in the war-torn north. With the ending of the war
millions of people living in IDP Camps have no place to go. After 20 years of their current living conditions they have acquired no skills to support
themselves or their family. By first giving them skills, then relocating them, and continued education they will be receiving hope and a chance for the future.
Orphans from the IDP Camps will be incorporated into this village, growing up in loving, trained families. This will also give them a chance for the future and keep
them out of the ghettos. Place of Refuge Village will be a total self-sufficient village with its own dairy, water, agriculture, textiles, chicken and beef.
We will provide and create jobs, vocational training, character training, schools, churches, and homes for the people of Northern Uganda to facilitate in changing
the lives of the next generation. In addition, we will be providing jobs for several hundred Ugandans who want to join with us in this vision and allowing
those from other countries to come do their part to change the next generation of Ugandans.
